Caloosa Catch & Release coming home to Captiva
The Caloosa Catch & Release, the event that founded public fishing tournaments in 1989, enters its 22nd season with “The Return to Paradise Tour,” coming home to Captiva Island.
South Seas Island Resort will again be the tournament host for the Caloosa Catch & Release presented by Yamaha and Fort Myers Marine from June 9-12, where anglers of every skill level have the opportunity to compete for cash, prizes and trophies in this family friendly atmosphere surrounded by world class amenities.
With plenty of chances to win prize money, the overall winner will be determined by the heaviest combined weight of all species of fish for both days of competition.
Tournament check-in opens at 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 9 with an open bar sponsored by Bahama Breeze Island Grille. Teams will be given official Caloosa Tournament gear. That evening, everyone will gather for the Captain’s Party and Rules meeting with dinner by the South Seas Island Resort and cold Budweiser.
Friday morning, June 10 opens the competition. New for this year will be lunches provided to all anglers provided by Keylime Bistro, Cantina Laredo and RC Otters. The Weigh Station will open from 2 to 5 p.m., where everyone can watch the returning teams weigh and score and release their catch of the day. That night, there will be an auction and dinner where anglers, guests and the general public can mingle and bid on great items.
Saturday, June 11 will have the same schedule of fishing with even more exciting plans for everyone at the Weigh Station. The Awards Banquet will be held that evening with all cash plus trophies given to the winning teams in all categories, including the special Red Salon & Spa Ladies Division. There is a Youth Division and a special category for the Redfish Bonanza.
The Caloosa Tournament Series also includes the Summer Slam hosted by the Pink Shell Beach Resort & Spa on Fort Myers Beach from Sept. 23-26 and the Caloosa Grand Championship at South Seas Island Resort from Nov. 4-6.
