Bailey's Baggers

Last Wednesday night at the Sanibel Ball Fields was a night full off excitement.

The Game of the Week featured Sanctuary Island Electric against the Sanibel Deli. Sparks were flying as Sanctuary Island Electric took an early 12-2 lead. An undeterred Sanibel Deli loaded on the mayo and made a comeback eventually narrowing the score 13-9 with one inning left.

“You want a knuckle sandwich?” chimed Deli’s Eric Maw as he smothered a ball deep into outfield. With his butter-free speed, Maw was able to make his way around the bases.

Another two runs scored and suddenly Sanibel Deli was only down by one. It appeared as though Sanctuary Island Electric was fizzling away until the “stun gun” Chris Brightman made an electrifying catch to save his team. Final score: Sanctuary island Electric 13, Sanibel Deli 12.

Later in the evening the Sanibel Grill marinated and roasted the Aztec Plumbing Warriors 17-10 and Williams & Williams bagged Bailey’s 20-14 in a crucial game that leaves them alone atop the softball rankings.
