Airport traffic rises again in February

During the month of February, 790,124 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport, an increase of 4.6 percent compared to February 2010.

The traffic leader in February was Delta with 171,166 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were AirTran (131,406), JetBlue (91,899), Southwest (84,633) and US Airways (79,175).

Southwest Florida International Airport had 8,410 aircraft movements (takeoffs and landings), an increase of 3.7 percent compared to February 2010. Page Field General Aviation Airport saw 7,428 movements, a 10.8 percent increase from February 2010.

In addition, more than 2.7 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in February 2011.

Southwest Florida International Airport served more than 7.5 million passengers in 2010 and is one of the top 50 U.S. airports for passenger traffic. No ad valorem (property) taxes are used for airport operation or construction.
