The weather and golf course conditions were excellent as 44 two-man teams teed it up on March 1 and 2 in the 25th Annual Beachview-Dunes Men’s Golf Championship. Beachview hosted the first 18-hole scramble match on Tuesday, and The Dunes hosted the second match on Wednesday.

Each contest was preceded by a hardy buffet breakfast and followed by a delicious hot lunch. As usual, the competition was friendly and fierce. Eight Beachview teams won their matches outright, with many other matches decided by a missed putt here or there. As head golf professionals Scott Hatto and Matt Oakley shook hands and hoisted the coveted trophy, all competitors agreed it was a memorable two-days of golf and camaraderie.

This great island tradition will continue in 2012.

Also on March 5, the Beachview men held their monthly four-man scramble tournament.

Tom Ware, Dan Keys, and David Smith finished first with an amazing score of 32 under par (net). To put it into perspective, this is 14 eagles and four birdies in an 18-hole round!

Second place, just two strokes higher, went to Marty Gallagher, Bob Ritchlin, Rene Lohser and Jerry Mader. Jim Sauer, Guy Tober, Frank Esposito, and Hunt Ethridge finished third.
