On Ray Judah’s commentary

By Staff | Mar 9, 2011

To the editor,

Ray Judah’s March 3rd remarks were more political than factual, as to the high-speed rail proposal which Gov Scott rejected. Gov Scott rejected this “bait-and-switch” scheme, in which the Feds offered $2.4 billion to get the State to “hold the bag” for a project which would cost at least $8 billion.

And, Scott recognized that this 60-mile line could never pay its own way, and the State would be forced to subsidize its operation and maintenance costs forever.

Ray Judah seems to spend taxpayer money to memorialize himself — while Scott is trying to cut State spending to match available funds — and not mortgage our future. Why is that hard to understand?

I prefer Scott’s plan!
