Beach birding slide show for kids featured at the Island Book Nook

By Staff | Feb 28, 2011

Kyle L. Miller, award winning author of wildlife storybooks for children, will present an abbreviated slide show of her new book release, “Snowy Pea and the Ghost Crab,” at the Island Book Nook this Saturday, March 5 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

After a brief introduction to the Snowy Pea story, which was illustrated by local resident Randon Eddy, Miller will show slides of the 14 bird characters in the book with illustrated and real life photo versions. This first-time presentation will be followed by a drawing for a “Snowy Pea and the Ghost Crab” book and a plush ghost crab. All who attend will receive a free birding guide with photos and descriptions of the birds in the story. This will be an educational and entertaining session for kids 5 and up.

Miller is also the author of the award-winning, popular book, “Dillo – A Baby Armadillo’s Adventure on Sanibel Island,” illustrated by Randon Eddy. She will be on hand to sign both books.

The Island Book Nook is located in the Hungry Heron Plaza on Palm Ridge Road, across from CVS Pharmacy. For more information, call 472-6777.
