Cape Palooza and Health Fair Thursday
The first annual Cape Coral Palooza and Health Fair, which will be held at the Yacht Club ballroom on Thursday, Feb. 17, will feature various services the community offers for senior citizens.
Coby Palmer, Cape Coral Parks and Recreation Department recreation specialist for the Tony Rotino Center, said he wants to help senior citizens by providing them with a one-place stop of all the different services the community has to offer them. He explained that the fair will provide “everything a senior would need in their every day life to benefit them.”
Some of the 25 vendors will include representatives from assisted living facilities, home health care, nutrition services, fitness, wellness, storage units, banking and insurance companies.
“It is a win-win for everyone,” Palmer said. “There are so many different services offered. It is important that we know what is offered to get the word out.”
He explained that all the vendors will have something to give away at their tables during the fair on Thursday.
Palmer said he hopes the Palooza and Health Fair will be held either annually or bi-annually for the community.
“It is the start of something new,” he said.
Free brunch — eggs, home fries and coffee — will be served for the first hour from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday. Music and entertainment by the Calendar Girls and the Internet Angels will also be provided for all those who attend the event.
Some of the Calendar Girls will do a belly dancing demo during the fair.
The event is free for those who wish to attend. The Yacht Club is located at 5819 Driftwood Parkway. For information, call (239) 574-0807.
