Twins partner with LMHS Foundation for charity bowling event

By Staff | Feb 2, 2011

Minnesota Twins closer Joe Nathan, left, high-fives teammate and 2009 MVP Joe Mauer. Both players have participated in the Twins charity bowling event in Fort Myers in years past.

The Minnesota Twins, in partnership with signature charity Lee Memorial Health System Foundation, will pair up to deliver an outstanding afternoon of bowling and fun on Sunday, Feb. 20 at Gator Lanes, located at 7500 Crystal Drive in Fort Myers.

Fans will have the opportunity to bowl alongside their favorite Twins players and compete for first, second and third place prizes. Prior year participants have included fan favorites Denard Span, pitching star Joe Nathan, perennial All-Star and 2009 A.L. MVP Joe Mauer and 2010 A.L. Manager of The Year Ron Gardenhire.

All net proceeds support programs and treatments at Lee Memorial Health System’s Regional Cancer Center in Fort Myers.

The event pairs teams of three guests with a Minnesota Twins player or staff member serving as the fourth on the team. Only 72 spots will be fielded and slots sell-out quickly each year.

The afternoon will also include a silent auction, drawings and buffet.

To play, guests can purchase a team of three for $250, or enter as a single player for $100. Guests can also support the event by attending as an observer (non-bowler) and still enjoy the buffet and the chance to bid on the auction items for $50. Additional sponsorship levels with priority team pairing are also available.
