Morning argument ends in gunfire

By Staff | Jan 11, 2011

An argument Tuesday morning in Cape Coral ended in gunfire and with one man sustaining a minor injury, according to officials.
At about 9:52 a.m., Cape officers responded to a report of a shooting at a home at 937 S.W. 52nd St. A preliminary investigation revealed that resident Vladmir Castor, 21, reportedly had been in an argument at the home with his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend, Walner Pierre-Vil, 23, of Fort Myers.
Castor called an acquaintance, James Bennett, 19, to come over due to the argument escalating, officials reported. Bennett, of Cape Coral, arrived and removed a long barreled rifle from the trunk of his car. Pierre-Vil pulled out a hand gun and shot at Castor, grazing his torso.
“Castor then got into Bennett’s car and the two of them fled the scene,” Lt. Anthony Sizemore, spokesman for the Cape police, reported. “Pierre-Vil also fled the scene.”
Castor eventually returned to the home with a “superficial” injury, according to officials. Castor refused to press charges against Pierre-Vil.
Police located Pierre-Vil and he led detectives to the location of the hand gun. The gun was recovered by police, but no arrests were made due to the victim refusing to press charges, Sizemore reported.
“Detectives are still working some angles,” he said.
None of the parties involved could be reached for comment Tuesday.
