The City of Sanibel Recreation Center will host the Radiology Regional Center’s Mobile Mammo Coach this Friday, Jan. 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Mobile Mammo Coach is a customized, mobile breast imaging clinic, providing state of the art full field digital mammography which will be analyzed by computer-aided detection, and read by local, board-certified radiologists, including fellowship-trained women’s imagers.

Radiology Regional Center is a contracted provider with most health insurance carriers and will file all claims on your behalf. Co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance payments are expected at the time of service.

Please bring the name and address of your primary care physician, if applicable, your medical insurance card and a picture ID. If you are self-insured, the discounted price of the mammography is $150. Patient Prep for the imaging includes not using underarm deodorant, talcum powder or cream. These can interfere with test results. If possible, wear a comfortable two-piece outfit that will allow you to wear a gown from the waist up.

Also on Friday, a complimentary Sanibel-Captiva Lions Club Diabetes Screening will be performed from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Rec Center.

This test uses a tiny drop of blood extracted with an almost painless prick of the finger, which is then read by a blood glucose meter in 10 seconds. The Lion screeners have been trained and certified by a doctor and use all appropriate methods to insure antiseptic conditions and privacy during the screening.

The test is appropriate for both children and adults. Screenings are performed on a first come, first serve basis.
