‘Take Me Home: The Music of John Denver’ featuring Jim Curry coming to islands
Jim Curry, a John Denver tribute artist, and his band will perform at BIG Arts on Saturday, Jan. 22 beginning at 8 p.m.
The music of the late John Denver is like an old friend, outlasting trends and standing the test of time. Curry, and his band have performed Denver’s music in sold-out shows throughout the country and have emerged as today’s top performers of Denver’s vast legacy of multi-platinum hits.
Their playlist includes many of Denver’s multi- platinum songs, like the hit single “Annie’s Song,” one of the world’s greatest love songs and most popular wedding songs. The California songster and guitarist sounds remarkably like Denver himself when he sings hits such as “Country Roads” and “Grandma’s Feather Bed,” to breathtaking world environmental songs such as “Calypso,” “Amazon” and “Rocky Mountain High.”
CBS Television’s movie “Take Me Home: The John Denver Story” features Curry in an off-camera role as the singing voice of John Denver. Curry and his musicians deliver the music of Denver, one of the most beloved singer/songwriters, matching the artist’s sensitivity and passion to each song.
BIG Arts Schein Performance Hall is located at 900 Dunlop Road on Sanibel. Tickets are $41 for general admission seats, $46 for Loge seats and students are $15.
“Take Me Home: The Music of John Denver” Benefactor Sponsors are John M. and Mary Jo Boler.
