North Fort Myers man sought in connection with bank robbery

Police looking a man wanted in connection with New Year’s eve bank robbery in Cape Coral.
The BB&T Bank at 2223 Del Prado Boulevard South was held up shortly before noon by a man who came into the bank, handed the teller a note demanding cash and indicated that he had a weapon. He fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
Witnesses told investigators they saw the suspect running from the bank and getting into a gold Ford Expedition. Responding officers located an abandoned gold Ford Expedition not far from the bank.
Based on evidence collected, detectives developed probable cause for the arrest of Lawrence Charles Derby Jr., 42, of 1846 Powell Drive Lot 9, officials said.
At this time, his whereabouts are unknown. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS or the Cape Coral Police Department at 574-3223.
