The Leather Connection’s Deere latest F.I.S.H. Food Drive raffle winner
Amber Deere was the unexpected winner of the F.I.S.H. Food Drive raffle this past week. As one of the friendly staff at The Leather Connection, in the Tahitian Gardens shopping plaza, Deere and her colleague, Monika Lehr-Hotaling, have been donating their own food and money, as well as those of their customers for the F.I.S.H. Food Drive every week since the Food Drive began in November.
Deere won the weekly raffle of a lovely gift basket, worth more than $200 in presents, gift cards and the latest Alan Maltz book, “Visions Of Beauty.”
Originally from Ohio, Deere moved to Sanibel in September this year, just before the store opened. She is a big fan of the islands, where her parents have lived as part time residents for more 30 years. Amber tells us that she is delighted to have won this gift basket as it will help with her Christmas shopping gifts this year, as she has been so busy at the store that she has not had much time to go out and shop herself.
F.I.S.H. would like to express its thanks for the huge support and help from the merchants of the shopping centers of the Royal Shell Companies located at Tahitian Gardens, The Village Shops, Olde Sanibel Shoppes and Town Center.
F.I.S.H. relies on community support to fund all programs and accepts unopened, unexpired food items which are delivered directly to island families in need. The Walk-in-Center is located at 1630 Periwinkle Way, Unit B, and is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. F.I.S.H. can be contacted at 472-4775.
