Christmas Eve celebration under the stars at SCC

By Staff | Dec 21, 2010

The scene from last year's Drive Thru Nativity at Sanibel Community Church.

This Christmas Eve, on the campus of Sanibel Community Church four candlelight celebrations will take place.

At 5 and 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 24, people will gather around the stable under the beautiful Sanibel stars. With the help of a living nativity presentation, Pastor Daryl Donovan will proclaim “The Miracle of Christmas.”

The worship at each of the outdoor services will be lead by the contemporary praise band. There will be a special time for children to hear the Christmas Story. The service will conclude with the lighting of candles and the singing of “Silent Night.”

Seating will be provided. Come early so the children can pet the animals. In case of inclement weather, the services will be moved to the church’s Fellowship Hall.

At 9 and 11 p.m., the candlelight services will be in the historic Sanctuary of Sanibel Community Church, with the chancel choir filling the air with praise at 9 p.m. At 11 p.m., the service will conclude with the Lord’s Supper. Pastor Daryl Donovan will preach at 9 p.m., with Pastor Ed VanderHey preaching at the 11 p.m. communion service.

A special Christmas Eve offering will be taken at all four services to help those in desperate need in Ethiopia.

Sanibel Community Church is located at 1740 Periwinkle Way (next to Jerry’s Market). For more information, call 472-2684 or visit www.sanibelchurch.com.

In addition, Sunday morning services the day after Christmas will be at 8, 9 and 10:45 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
