Sanibel author Charles Sobczak and Indigo Press L.L.C. are proud to announce a new, forthcoming title, “The Living Gulf Coast – A Nature Guide to Southwest Florida.”

This new release is due out in February 2011 and is the companion book to the best-selling “Living Sanibel – A Nature Guide to Sanibel & Captiva Islands.” The book will be 512 pages in length and contain more than 700 full-color photographs and maps.

This companion book will cover all of Southwest Florida including Sarasota, Charlotte, Lee, Collier, Glades and Hendry counties. More than 165 parks, preserves and eco-destinations will be listed in the work, with sixty-one of them described in great detail. These destinations include places such as the Myakka River State Park, Everglades National Park as well as lesser-known preserves such as Harn’s Marsh in Lehigh Acres and the OK Slough in southern Hendry County.

In addition, this eco-guide will prove invaluable to visitors and residents wanting to discover all the remarkable natural places found throughout Southwest Florida.

The new title will also include hundreds of species of birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians, butterflies and plants that are commonly found in the region. These include burrowing owls, wild boars, panthers and invasive species such as Burmese pythons and Nile monitor lizards. The award-winning photographers participating in this new title include Alan S. Maltz, Sara Lopez, Dick Fortune, Judd Patterson and R.J. Wiley.

To see an early mock-up of this exciting new title, please visit author Charles Sobczak on Luminary Night at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3 at the Sanibel Island Bookshop, located at 1571 Periwinkle Way. Charles will be signing gift copies of “Living Sanibel” as well as “Six Mornings on Sanibel” and the public is invited to stop by and enjoy cookies, snacks and refreshments.
