38th Annual Fort Myers Boat Show returns this weekend

By Staff | Nov 10, 2010

The 38th Annual Fort Myers Boat Show is set for this Thursday, Nov. 11 through Sunday, Nov. 14. It is located in the heart of downtown on the Caloosahatchee River at the Harborside Event Center and the Fort Myers City Yacht Basin.

This is the premier showing of boats and marine products in Southwest Florida and is considered one of the top regional shows in the country. Few shows have the combination of an indoor Convention Hall for boat and accessory displays and beautiful royal palm tree lined streets for smaller boats leading to the City Yacht Basin with boats up to 75 feet in-water.

Boats are always the main attraction and with over 40 dealers on hand there are hundreds of boats of every type and shape. From inflatables and dinghies to fishing boats to family cruising boats and larger yachts and trawlers, this is the one chance each year that so much product is on display. There are both new boats and brokerage boats on display in water.

There is always an impressive display of marine accessories. All types of motors — inboard gas and diesel, generators, outboard motors — wnd a wide range of other types of marine products, hardware, electronics, clothing, shoes, nautical gifts and more.

Also displaying at the show will be area boatyards, boat lifts and service companies.

It’s a great chance to learn more about boating in Southwest Florida. Displays from local and state law enforcement, U.S. Customs, local Power Squadrons and the Coast Guard, give show visitors a chance to talk with experts about boating. Outdoors there is a “Boating Lifestyle” area featuring the “Fort Myers Fishing Village.” Seminars will be held all four days on fishing and boat safety.

In addition, there will be diving and kayak displays. The U.S. Coast Guard will have their popular Boating Safety trailer on hand.

The opening of a third downtown parking garage eliminates the need for offsite parking. Additional information and a parking map is available on the show’s website, located at www.fortmyersboatshow.com.
