A display of photography by Kim Hambour.

Chadwick’s Square across from South Seas Island Resort is home to a real art “find.” 2 Islands Gallery — an artist’s cooperative and sister space to the Tower Gallery on Sanibel — boasts some of the finest pieces of art around from local painters, sculptors, jewelers, weavers and photographers.

Here’s a brief introduction to some of the artists on display at 2 Islands Gallery — though, this is just a small sampling. There are more than 20 artists in the Gallery’s group.

• Ed Brown

A watercolorist with a penchant for historical, tropical scenes, including the North Captiva fish house, Andy Rosse Lane, Chapel by the Sea, the Sanibel Lighthouse and South Seas Island Resort.

•Katie Gardenia

An orange dress made by Katie Gardenia.

Long an out-of-the-box fashioner of soft dolls, Gardenia is a master of fabric, stitching up extensive collections of mermaids and mythical creatures and, more recently, stylish headwear and clothing.

• Kimberly Hambor

A digital photographer with a background in both fine and commercial art, Hambor has an affinity for nature, statues, Asian aesthetics, and a talent for capturing the spirit of the scene.

•Susan Sadler

A painter with a knack for the abstract, Sadler creates pieces ranging from fun and funky to thought-provoking and poignant. Sadler is also known for her stylishly hand-painted, whimsical, island-inspired designs on women’s clothing. At this gallery she and Perry Thompson, a graphic designer and artist in his own right, display their painted wood pieces as well — display shelves, a wine table, and several other examples of painted furniture

Jewelry by Bunny Gordon.

The gallery, located at 5400 Plantation Road in Chadwick’s Square, is open to the public every day from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

This year, starting with ‘Tween Waters’ Christmas Tree Lighting and Fireworks on Friday, Nov. 26, and South Seas’ Tree Lighting the next evening, there are special events planned all over Captiva for every weekend in December right up to Christmas — evenings of music, outdoor movies, performance art, possibly even a laser show.

Saturday night, Dec. 4, is Luminary Night on Captiva with a Golf Cart Parade at 3:30 p.m. followed by awards and music at sunset at the Mucky Duck.

There’s a Holiday Marketplace in front of Chadwick’s Square the weekend of Dec. 10 through 12 featuring each Captiva business with its own special gifts and unique ornaments. 2 Islands Gallery will host an art show with artists doing works “en plein air.”

On Saturday, Dec. 11, there’s a Boat Parade on Roosevelt Channel followed by a fabulous outdoor celebration at Chadwick’s Square featuring the parade awards program, outdoor music, food and fun from 9 to 11 p.m.

Friday and Saturday Dec. 17 and 18 there will be lost of music, entertainment as well as all kinds of food and beverages. More events are being added every day.
