Voter registration deadline Oct. 4 for general election
For those looking to cast a ballot in November’s general election but are not yet registered voters, all application materials must be received or postmarked by Monday, Oct 4, 5 p.m., to be eligible.
Supervisor of Elections Sharon Harrington said the deadline pertains to all Florida residents who are not registered in Florida, or who must re-register.
Harrington said that application materials postmarked for the Oct. 4 will be accepted at her office up to five days after the deadline.
“We can go up to five days later,” she said.
For people who have moved within Lee County, address changes can be made by phone or by stopping by the office. A change of address may mean a different voting precinct, according to Harrington.
Harrington said the number of last-minute voter registration depends on the election.
“It depends on the election, but right now I don’t see a mass of applications coming in,” she said. “Most people got registered close to the primary.”
There are four locations county-wide where voters can register.
The Cape Coral Branch is located at 1031 S.E. 9th Place, Suite 3, across the street from the Lee County Government Center and near city hall.
Other branches include: Main Office in Downtown Fort Myers, 2480 Thompson St., 3rd Floor; Bonita Springs Branch Office, Coconut Commerce Center, 24951 Old U.S. 41; Lee County Election Center, South Fort Myers Branch Office,13180 S. Cleveland Ave., across the street from the Bell Tower Shops.
Application forms can also be downloaded from the Supervisor of Elections website.
