All invited to attend Coffee Bar’s Fall Barista Challenge on Sunday

The Coffee Bar @ Bailey’s on Sanibel Island will host its second ever Barista Challenge this Sunday, Oct. 3 starting at 5 p.m.

Last May, the barista’s were commissioned to create a new drink, which was based on creativity and taste. The winner was Alicia Meyer with her Strawberry Banana Mochaccino. This challenge is a bit more specific – to create the perfect drink for fall.

Fall coffee drinks have been a huge phenomenon. People wait all year for pumpkin flavors and hot apple cider to come back; even in the Southwest Florida heat.

The Barista Challenge will consist of seven talented baristas showcasing and sampling each of their own creations for the fall menu. The drinks may range from espresso based drinks, tea based beverages, or even a steamer, which is flavored steamed milk. Any ingredients within the Coffee Bar are eligible for use in this competition.

All are encouraged to attend this friendly competition. Special deals and goodies will be given to all in attendance, and a chance to win great prizes from the Coffee Bar such as retail, espresso beans, chocolates and free drinks.

In addition, there will be Latte Art demonstrations, samples of all the Fall Barista Challenge drink entries, plus new menu items featured at the Coffee Bar starting this fall.

“We’re very excited for this event,” said Coffee Bar @ Bailey’s owner Blanaid Colley. “We’re looking forward to what creativity the team has come up with this time around.”

The judges’ panel includes Lisa Martin, Dynah Sgrignoli and Christin Jones, who were selected from those who entered the Coffee Bar @ Bailey’s "Be Our Judge"contest throughout the month of September. There will also be a few “celebrity” judges. All judges will be responsible for picking the Coffee Bar @ Bailey’s Fall Barista Challenge winner. The crowd will also be asked to vote for their favorite drink for our People’s Choice Award Winner.
