Kristine Heilman, Realtor with the Walters Group at John R. Wood Island Real Estate, has recently joined the Junior League of Fort Myers.

The Junior League of Fort Myers reaches out to women of all races, religions and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to voluntarism. Since its founding in 1966, the Junior League of Fort Myers has contributed more than 1,000,000 hours and over $1,000,000 to community projects and programs.

Their goals are to educate and train their members to:

• Provide effective volunteer service

• Research changing community needs

• Initiate or expand services to meet those needs

All supported projects receive administrative guidance, financial support, and volunteer service. Members provide volunteer service while advancing the Junior League’s mission of promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community.

As a Provisional Member of the Junior League of Fort Myers, Kristine is required to commit herself — along with other Provisional Members — to a Community Project. This year’s Provisional project is renovating “The Bridge” Youth Center, located on U.S. 41 in Downtown Fort Myers.

The goal of “The Bridge” is to provide a safe caring place of hope that will build faith, character, and self-esteem and life skills in each youth. The target group of The Bridge is sixth grade through 12th grade youth, and offers a variety of programs and events to assist in youth development.

Through the efforts of this year’s Junior League Provisional Class, Kristine — along with 32 other women — plans to raise funds, obtain donations and accept volunteer efforts to achieve their goal of creating a more inviting, pleasant and functional youth center for its teens.

“I am very exited about being involved in this program and having an opportunity to give back to the community,” said Heilman.

If anyone is interested in making a financial contribution to the Junior League of Fort Myers for this project or would like additional information on some of the items that would helpful to the League for this project, your contributions will be greatly appreciated.
