Islanders should ‘give back’ in honor of Sam Bailey

By Staff | Sep 24, 2010

Over the years, the Baileys have always given to us… in good times and bad.

Now, at this sad time for the Bailey family and the Bailey’s staff family, Sanibel resident Susan McCallion has suggested that we all get together and, instead of Bailey’s providing refreshments following Sam’s Celebration of Life.

"It’s time for all of us to try to give back," she said.

McCallion is providing coordination, but she suggested we need cookies, cakes, lemonade, iced tea, lots of bottled water, paper towels or paper napkins, folding tables to appear at Bailey’s General Store post-service.

Call her if you can help — and be specific about what you can contribute: 233-6117 (cell) or 472-8017 (home). You may also e-mail her at Susan@DwellOnSanibel.com.

According to the Bailey family, a celebration of Sam’s life will be held at the Old Bailey Store, located on the grounds of the Sanibel Historical Museum and Village, on Saturday, Oct. 2. The memorial, which will be open to the entire island community, will begin at 9:30 a.m.
