Mack: Administration continues to fail in addressing illegal immigration

By Staff | Aug 26, 2010

WASHINGTON – Congressman Connie Mack (FL-14) issued the following statement today regarding the announcement that the Department of Homeland Security is preparing to dismiss thousands of pending cases for illegal immigrants who have no serious criminal records.
Mack said:
“The news that the Department of Homeland Security will be dismissing some pending immigration cases is unacceptable. This is government inefficiency at its worst, and once again proves that the federal government’s approach to addressing the illegal immigration problem has been a colossal failure.
“For years, both Republican and Democratic Administrations and Congresses have failed to address this growing problem, and now it has overwhelmed the system to the point that the Obama Administration is choosing to dismiss some deportation cases rather than enforce the law.
“This Administration and the Democratic Leadership in Congress need to get serious about securing our border, enforcing federal law, and stepping up employer verification programs. Until they realize this, the illegal immigration problem is only going to get worse by the day.”
