Signups for BIG ARTS workshops in jewelry making, writing and more

BIG ARTS has announced the workshop schedule for season; signups are ongoing. New offerings this year include Hand Paper Making with Island Flowers, Making “Shaker Tape” Tote Bags, Crafting “Engaging” Greeting Cards, Memoir Writing, and How to Get Published.

There are also new jewelry making classes using precious metal clay and no-solder wire beads. New technology classes will teach students how to use iTunes, iPad, iPhone apps, and more.

Classes begin in September.

           

BIG ARTS introduces a new series this season: Winter Academy. These workshops will feature professors lecturing about art history, economics, music and art appreciation, religion and international law.

Youth Dance: Ballet, Basic Tap, Hip Hop classes begin Tuesday, Sept. 14, and will be held at the Sanibel Recreation Center. Instructor Kathleen More has been dancing since the age of eight and teaching for more than 20 years.

Her classes are as follows:

• 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. — Ballet & Basic Tap: Ages 3 and 4

• 2:40 to 3:25 p.m. — Ballet & Jazz: Grades K – 2nd

• 4:20 to 5:15 p.m. — Ballet & Hip Hop: Grades 3rd – 5th

           

Pottery on the Wheel with Kelly Williamson will be held Tuesdays, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. starting Sept. 7.

           

Clay Expressions with Gail Jones will be held Mondays, from 1 to 4 p.m. starting Sept. 27.

Voice and Musical Instrument Lesson signups are starting now for fall. Piano, flute, and sax classes are offered to adults and children. Jennifer Valiquette will hold saxophone and flute lessons. Steven Cramer will teach voice as well as piano lessons for adult students.
