Center4Life offering Kayak Adventures

By Staff | Aug 16, 2010

Kayak Adventures are held on Tuesdays, with two outings coming up next month (Sept. 14 and 28). There is available space for 16 people on our eight two-person kayaks and unlimited space for those who own their own kayaks.

This non-competitive outing, offered by Sanibel’s Center4Life, is perfect for people who enjoy the world around them. Each outing is lead by two leaders who determine the location. Leaders pay no fees and reserve the right to change the 8:30 a.m. meeting time. All participants, including those with personal kayaks, must meet at the Center4Life unless an off Island launching is scheduled. Everyone is encouraged to take their turn leading the group.

The Center4Life supplies the kayaks, paddles and life jackets (which all participants must wear). Also, it is useful to bring water, a small snack, change of clothing (in case you get wet and don’t like it), sun and bug lotion, sunglasses and a hat.

Fees are $5 for members and $10 for non-members per outing. Members of the Island Seniors, Inc. are always given first priority. Come by the Center4Life, located at the corner of Library Way and Palm Ridge Road, to sign up and pay for your reserved kayak. If payment is not received by the previous Friday, your name is erased and the waiting list is called. Fees will be reimbursed if the leaders cancel the launching.
