Florida’s most beautiful race will roll in October

The most beautiful 5K and 10K runs in Florida on Gasparilla Island are also highly competitive.

The race begins in the early morning Oct. 3 at the sponsoring Boca Grande Community Center and runners go past scenic views of Charlotte Harbor, through the historic district of Boca Grande, down palm tree-lined Gilchrist Avenue and finish on shady Banyan Street.

Awards will be given to the first-, second- and third-place male and female winners in 15 age divisions: 14-under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-plus and wheelchair.

Special awards will be given for the male and female overall, 40-plus master, 50-plus grandmaster and 60-plus senior grandmaster winners.

Fun prizes go to the winners of this year’s Boca Grande Community Center 5K and 10K races.

Grand prizes, by Boca Grande Village Inn and Anchor Inn through Parsley-Baldwin Realty will be distributed to the champs.

The 5K winners will earn a three-day/two-night stay for up to four people at the Boca Grande Village Inn — a grand prize valued at $400. Visit Boca Grande Village Inn at parsley-baldwinrealty.com.

The 10K participants win a three-day/two-night stay in one of Anchor Inn’s two bedroom units for up to four people — valued at $800. Visit Anchor Inn at .anchorinnbocagrande.com.

Several water stations will be on the course and refreshments will be available during post-race activities.

Many other door prizes will be given away but you must be present to win. Long-sleeve shirts will gor to the first 200 paid participants. Shirts are not guaranteed to those who register on race day.

A portion of the proceeds support youth programs at the Boca Grande Community Center.
