If you’re looking for a tasty and healthy way to stay cool this summer, the Coffee Bar @ Bailey’s is offering a natural, low-calorie solution.

“Right now we’re introducing the skinny smoothies,” said Renee Cutaia of the Coffee Bar @ Bailey’s. “There are a lot of people out there that are looking to cut calories, but still want to enjoy things.”

Skinny Smoothies contain one-third fewer calories than the Coffee Bar’s normal smoothie and contain no fat, artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners.

Containing only two natural ingredients — crushed fruit puree and ice — each Skinny Smoothie has the same amount of calories as a 16 ounce glass of fruit juice but contains three full servings of fruit.

Flavors include Four Berry, Strawberry, Key Lime and Mango.

And throughout the summer, the Coffee Bar @ Bailey’s is giving islanders a chance to beat the heat and get more bang for their buck.

“Right now we’re doing happy hour, Monday through Friday, from 3 to 5 p.m. on all cold drinks. Whether it’s a smoothie or an iced drink, they’re all half price. It’s a good way to cool down,” Cutaia said.

But Skinny Smoothies are just one way that the Coffee Bar @ Bailey’s is responding to their ever-increasing group of loyal patrons.

“I’m always open to new ideas, especially when a customer asks for something. If we don’t have it, I’ll definitely get it because that’s what they want to drink. If that’s what they want, then we might as well go for it,” Cutaia said. “It’s a learning process, but it’s fun and we’re always trying to come up with new ways to jazz up a cup of coffee.”

The menu for the Coffee Bar has steadily grown — along with its fan base — since it opened in December of 2009.

“We’ve been really lucky to build some cool relationships with our customers. We have some people that come in every single day and all of us know exactly what they want and exactly how they want it as soon as we see them. That’s the best part of working here — connecting to the community around us,” Cutaia added. “We’ll have our one-year anniversary in December. I’m excited for what next year will hold.”

The Coffee Bar @ Bailey’s is located inside Bailey’s General Store, 2477 Periwinkle Way on Sanibel. They’re open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7
