Lily’s to heat up fun with annual Summer Celebration
If the idea of watching people you know get soaked in a dunk tank while noshing on free hotdogs and sipping smoothies appeals to you then Lily & Co. Jewelers has your ticket.
Lily’s Jewelers is sponsoring its 4th annual Summer Celebration on July 10 from 11a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event is a way for the local business to say thank you to the business and residential community for their support throughout the year as well as raise money and collect donations for Friends in service Here (FISH) an island human care organization.
The Summer Celebration is often a sort of pick-me-up for residents when not many activities are happening.
“We wanted to get the whole neighborhood involved during the quiet times,” said Dan Schuyler, co-owner of Lily & Co. Jewelers. “Each year we continue to say thank you.”
At the event, guests can nibble on summer favorites such as hot dogs – compliments of Schnapper’s Hots, and smoothies and snow cones Bailey’s General Store and the Coffee Bar at Bailey’s. And for the fun at heart folks Lily’s will feature attractions including guided Segway tours at no charge, a chance to see the Sanibel Fire and Rescue Service fire truck which will be on display. Anyone with a good arm and a sense of humor will have the opportunity to dunk island celebrities, including Ric Base, President of Chamber of Commerce, Billy Kirkland of Billy’s Rentals, Richard Johnson of Baileys and Lily & Co owner, Dan Schuyler, in the big dunk tank.
Guests are asked to bring a donation of non perishable food items for the FISH food pantry and to buy raffle tickets for a chance to win a beautiful 24 speed comfort cruiser bike – courtesy of Billy’s Rentals, a piece of jewelry from Lily’s valued at $400 and a host of other prizes from local retailers. Raffle tickets are available in advance at Lily & Co for $1 each or six raffle tickets for $5 and you don’t need to be present to win.
“Its an opportunity for everybody to get together and have a good time and at the same time support FISH,” Schuyler said. “We need really need people to come by and help FISH.”
Due to the rough economy needs for food from the FISH pantry have increased, said Blanaid Colley, board member for FISH.
Last year’s Summer Celebration yielded hundreds of pounds of non-perishable food.
“Once again were very happy with Lily &. Co for supporting FISH in this fun community event,” Colley said. “It’s very important to us. Our food bank is extremely low.”
This fun event is being supported by many local merchants including Baileys General Store, Billy’s Bikes & Rentals, Coffee Bar at Bailey’s and George Schnapper’s restaurant coming soon to the Bailey’s Center.
