Freedoms are not free
To the editor,
To many, July 4th is a day of happiness, fireworks, kinship and camaraderie. During this time of celebrating the greatest nation in the world, let us not forget that our freedoms are not free.
From the Revolutionary War, to the Civil War, the War of 1812, the World Wars, the Korean War, Vietnam Conflict, Gulf War, and the War on Terrorism, and all the conflicts and wars in between, let us not forget that some of our fathers, brothers, sons, wives, daughters and sisters fought to give us the freedoms that we have today. Some bled and some died to preserve these freedoms and to protect our rights. Let us not forget them.
While we are celebrating, and while we remember the significance of this day, let us all thank the Armed Forces abroad, the families of those who serve, and the law enforcement and correctional officers here at home, for preserving and protecting our way of life. Let us remember that our rights and freedoms must be passionately protected.
God bless all!
