Charlie Biedenweg

Charles Joseph Biedenweg of Montvale, N.J. and Sanibel, passed away June 11, 2010 after a long and courageous battle with lymphoma. He was 79.

Charles was born on Oct. 22, 1930 in Bronx, N.Y., the son of Charles and Anna (Nolan) Biedenweg. Early in the decade, the family moved to Montvale, where he lived for 77 years.

After graduating from Park Ridge High School, he enlisted in the Army’s famed 82nd Airborne Division where, during the Korean War, he attained the rank of Master Sergeant. After returning from the service, he joined the Montvale Police Department. He retired as a Sergeant after 30 years of service. During that period, he attended John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City.

Charlie leaves to cherish his loving memory his beloved wife of 46 years, Anne Biedenweg; his dear step-daughter, Anne Feltingoff, and her husband, Neal of Fort Myers; and two sisters — Anne Frey and Christine Biedenweg, both of whom live in Montana. He was predeceased by his younger sister, Peggy.

Charlie and his family enjoyed world traveling and their annual trips to their beloved island home. He was an accomplished carpenter and gardener and also enjoyed reading and cooking. A quiet, humorous, and gentle man, he will be missed by all. We, his family, will forever love and miss him  greatly.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for the development of treatment for B-cell Lymphoma. For additional information, visit www.LLS.org.
