Sobriety checkpoint nets 10 DUIs

Police made 10 DUI arrests at a sobriety checkpoint in North Fort Myers Friday and Saturday. Nearly 1,100 cars passed through the checkpoint which involved members of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Cape Coral Police Department, Florida Highway Patrol and the Florida Department of Transportation.
The sobriety checkpoint was conducted at 13550 North Cleveland Avenue. The following are the results of the activity that began at 11 p.m. and ended at 3 a.m. Saturday morning:
– DUI Arrests: 10
= No Valid Driver’s License: 4
– Possession of a controlled substance: 3
– Obstruction without violence: 2
– Possession of a Firearm by a convicted Felon: 01
– Number of Vehicles passing through checkpoint: 1094
– Traffic Citation issued: 52
