Vertesch to discuss tarpon fishing at SIFC meeting
This Tuesday, May 11, the Sanibel Island Fishing Club will be holding it’s last monthly meeting of the season.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the north room of the Sanibel Community House, located at 2173 Periwinkle Way. The featured speakers will begin their presentations at 7 p.m. sharp. There is no admission charge for the event and the angling public is cordially invited to attend.
The featured speaker will be our own Kevin Vertesch. Kevin is an active member as well as a past president of the Sanibel Island Fishing Club. He was also the winner of the 2008 as well as the 2009 “Angler of the Year” award.
This month, Kevin will be speaking of his very successful techniques for catching the premier game fish of Southwest Florida – tarpon. Kevin will include information on the best tackle to use, his favorite cut baits, live baits and – most importantly – where to go to find the newly arriving schools of silver kings. For those anglers who love the challenge of catch-and-release tarpon fishing, this is a angling seminar you will not want to miss.
An extensive question-and-answer session will immediately follow Kevin’s presentation.
The Sanibel Island Fishing Club meets monthly through season and sponsors several group outings as well as lending support for various fishing related charities and organizations such as START, PURRE and the Sanibel Sea School.
For information on joining the club, please contact Rol Campbell at 472-8994 or attend next Tuesday’s meeting.
