Island Therapy Center thanks community
To assist those with amputations or injuries resulting from the Haitian earthquake, the Island Therapy Center organized a donation drive for mobility devices. Rachel Tritaik, PT, CLT-LANA, the owner and lead therapist at the physical therapy clinic, was very excited to receive 56 donations from the community during the month-long drive.
“We ran out of room for all the donations, and were thankful to Marcel Middendorf of the Sanibel Square for providing additional storage space across from the clinic,” said Tritaik
Donations included six wheelchairs and a variety of walkers, crutches, braces and canes. The Island Therapy Center also wishes to thank Pak-N-Ship of Sanibel for crating the items and R & L Carriers for covering the freight costs.
The items collected will be shipped to Haiti via the non-profit organization Physicians for Peace. Conveniently located in the Sanibel Square on Periwinkle Way, the Island Therapy Center provides physical therapy, occupational therapy, hand therapy, lymphedema therapy, Pilates and more for Island residents, visitors and employees.
