Lee County Mosquito Control notifies islanders of spray truck activity

By Staff | Apr 8, 2010

The Lee County Mosquito Control District (LCMCD) provides mosquito control for Sanibel and all of Lee County. On Thursday, the LCMCD announced that they will deploy spray trucks this evening from sundown until 2 a.m. from Blind Pass to Belding Drive.

“Mosquito Season” typically runs from May through October and mosquito activity increases with rain, particularly after heavy rains that produce large areas of standing water. Due to the abundance of mangroves, wetlands and salt marches, Sanibel is a prime breeding ground for mosquitoes.

For additional information regarding mosquito control on Sanibel, please visit the Lee County Mosquito Control District’s Web site at lcmcd.org or call 239- 694-2174.
