FMPD sergeant recognized

By Staff | Apr 2, 2010

Fort Myers Police Sergeant Roger Valdivia will receive the 2010 Exceptional Service Award from the Latino Officers Association of Florida. The event will take place at the organization’s second annual Spring Picnic on Saturday, April 3, at Lakes Park at noon.
Chief Doug Baker nominatedValdivia for the award for his hard work in the department’s Professional Standards Bureau. Valdivia coordinates training for the department. He also maintains training records and makes sure each employee receives mandatory training requirements by the State of Florida for their certification as a police officer. He continually seeks out “tuition free” training courses and it is his responsibility to address and identify training issues related to internal and/or administrative investigation findings.
The LOAFLA’s mission and vision is to promote the Hispanic community and increase the representation of Latinos at the Federal, State and Local levels of the criminal justice system.
The Fort Myer Police Department is proud to have one of their own honored by the organization, officials said.
