Sanctuary Island Electric zaps Great White Grill

By Staff | Mar 31, 2010

The air was full of electricity last Thursday night when Sanctuary Island Electric and the Great White Grill sparred on the Sanibel Ball Fields.

This is one of the oldest rivalries in Sanibel Softball history – these two teams have met 18 times over the past three years. Before the game, Great White held a slight two game lead in the series. However, Sanctuary Electric came into the game energized thanks to team sparkplug Joey Gill.

“I had to use shock therapy to charge my team up,” commented Gill.

Whatever the method used, it was effective because Sanctuary Electric stunned Great White Grill in a narrow 12-9 victory.

In the other games, Sanibel Grill Rec’N’Crew bulldozed over All Island Glass in a 13-4 win. The Lazy Flamingo flocked over Royal Shell 22-13 and Aztec Plumbing strengthened their first place position with an impressive 25-13 win against the Sundial.

Sundial star Frank Graham, Jr. said, “That game was a real clogger!”

The Sanibel Adult Softball League plays every Wednesday and Thursday night at the Sanibel Ball Fields. For more information, contact the Rec Center 472-0345.
