Aztec Plumbing sits atop Sanibel Softball League standings

By Staff | Mar 24, 2010

With a crucial 12-11 overtime win against the Bailey’s Baggers last week, the Aztec Plumbing Warriors have taken the lead in the Sanibel Softball League. This is the first time they have led the league since the days of their empire around the year 1200 A.D.

The Great White Grill, whom has an equivalent record, is ranked below Aztec because of their head-to-head matchup where Aztec Plumbing clogged the Great White Grill’s late rally back in Week 2.

Aztec Plumbing warrior Tommy ‘Can’t Touch This’ Hensel leads the league with inside-the-park homeruns, primarily due to his speed. He said, “Aztec will build a pyramid of victories this season over the corpses of our opponents.”

Another big matchup last week was the “Game of the Grills”-Sanibel Grill Rec’N’Crew versus the Great White Grill.

Sanibel Grill took a quick 10 run lead, but Great White stoked the fire up late in the match with an unanswered 19 runs to win 19-13.

In the other games, the Sundial cracked All Island Glass in a close 11-10 game and Sanctuary Island Electric tasered Royal Shell with a shocking 25-10 score.

The Sanibel Adult Softball League plays every Wednesday and Thursday night at the Sanibel Ball Fields. For more information, contact the Recreation Center at 472-0345.
