‘All Dog Wedding’ to be held on Sanibel Causeway

South Fort Myers resident Mike Lino and his fiancee, Meghan, aren’t about to proceed with their big day without letting many of their close friends take part in the celebration.

The owners of M&M Grooming and Training in Fort Myers are planning an “all dog wedding” on Saturday, March 27 at 2 p.m. on the Sanibel Causeway.

As Mike and Meghan tie the knot, approximately 20 dogs they’ve been involved with grooming and training over the past year and a half, will join the wedding ceremony dressed in tuxedos and pink dresses.

As many of the dogs make their way down the aisle and into position, two of them have been chosen as ring bearers.

“They’ve been practicing for two weeks,” Lino said. “After we’re done with the ceremony, we’re going to play the song, ‘Who let the dogs out?’ That should get them riled up.”

The ceremony is being held across the street from the first set of restrooms located on the Causeway, coming from Fort Myers. The ceremony is free to the public.

“There will be a lot of dogs in the crowd, people bringing their own dogs,” Lino said.

Lino, who trains dogs for law enforcement, including the Lee County Sheriff’s Department and the Cape Coral Police, said he and his fiance, Meghan, figured it would be the perfect arrangment to mark the grand occasion.

They met two years ago when Mike was working in a dog grooming shop in Bonita Beach.

“I went through a divorce and Meghan (from Minnesota) did,” he said. “We hooked up two years ago while she was down here on vacation.”

Since then, they’ve started their own shop in Fort Myers, which is located at 16650 McGregor Blvd.

They’re offering free training sessions for any new adopted dogs in Lee County.
