CCA holds final meeting of season March 23
The Captiva Civic Association will hold their last meeting of the season on Tuesday, March 23 at 7 p.m.
For the past two years, the CCA’s monthly meetings were held at 10 a.m., but, but prior to that, all general membership meetings were held in the evening.
According to CCA executive director Paul Garvey, the agenda will focus on financials and committee reports, including the success of the ABC Sale, pending land use matters and upcoming art exhibitions and activities.
There will also be several community announcements, including information from the Captiva Memorial Library, the Captiva Erosion Prevention District and the Captiva Hurricane Preparation and Response Committee.
At every March general membership business meeting, elections are held for five or six seats for the board of governors.
The board is made up of eleven governors and each member may serve up to three consecutive two-year terms.
“There will be an election for the board of governors consisting of five
nominees, all current board members eligible to run for either a first,
second or third two-year term,” Garvey said.
The nominees are: Shirley Stanton for a first term; Janey Symington, Ted Sawyer and Tom Loomis for a second term and Bill Downey for the a third term.
After the meeting, there will be a guest presentation by Bill Fellows, vice president for Friends in Service Here (F.I.S.H.).
Members should also mark their calendars for the annual CCA spring social on Wednesday, April 7.
