Last week, the Bailey’s Center Merchants’ Association (BCMA) presented a check to the Friends In Service Here (F.I.S.H.) of Sanibel. The funds were raised at Baileyfest 2009, held in October.

Sam Bailey, who founded Baileyfest in 1985, and Ken Kasten, President of the Bailey’s Center Merchants’ Association, presented the $1,000 check to the F.I.S.H. of Sanibel Board of Directors.

“We are very grateful to Sam Bailey and all of the merchants for this generous donation,” said Maggi Feiner, President of F.I.S.H. “It will certainly help us to continue to help our island neighbors in these times of continued economic hardship. We really appreciate all the merchants at the Bailey’s Center have done to help F.I.S.H. over the past year.”

F.I.S.H. serves more than 600 clients, and has over 190 island volunteers who deliver a range of human services to individuals and families in need on Sanibel and Captiva. The mission of F.I.S.H. is to lend a helping hand to those in need who live, work or visit Sanibel and Captiva by providing free human services such as transportation for medical appointments, meal delivery, health equipment, food pantry and emergency financial assistance through a group of volunteers who care about the quality of life for all those who request help.

The BCMA was formed to develop and enhance the relationships among individual merchants and promote the Center as the prime retail resource for island customers, residents and visitors alike.
