Police rescind ‘Silver Alert,’ man located successfully

On Thursday, Feb. 18, the Sanibel Police Department responded to a call of a missing 78-year-old Sanibel man. At this time, the man – Richard Cook – has been successfully located.

During the course of the investigation, the Sanibel Police Department activated the State of Florida’s, “Silver Alert” program for the missing man.

The Silver Alert program, which is patterned after the State’s Amber Alert system, is a grant-funded program designed to find missing persons who suffer from cognitive impairments such as Alzheimer’s and dementia.
