Ball Busters remain at top of Pool League standings
Bunt’s Ball Busters clinched first place with a 10-6 win over the second place One Ball Wonders. With only three weeks of League play remaining, the Wonders hold a slim five game lead over the Fresh Legion Crew.
Led by John Earle’s four wins, the Sanibel Caf won its second match in 18 tries with a 9-7 squeaker over the Fresh Legion Crew. The Caf has also chalked up four 8-8 tie matches in its efforts to climb out of the cellar.
Three of the Legion Crew’s seven wins were chalked up by Barb Chance, one of the League’s two women players, as she administered a shot making lesson to a humbled Pete Mindel. Onlookers tabbed it the “Mindel Massacre By Chance.”
The season ends with a tournament on Monday, March 8. Entry fee is $20 and only players who have shot 20 games or more are eligible to compete. Signed up to date are: Rich McCurry, Bob Buntrock, Doug Gentry, Jack Dalton, Terry Ricotta, Joe Stahl, Matt Hall, Dougie Fresh, Rich Ennis, Dave Doane, Pete Mindel and Scott Marcelais. A field of at least 24 players is expected for the single-game, double elimination format.
