This Tuesday, Feb. 9, the Sanibel Island Fishing Club will be holding it’s monthly meeting. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the north room of the Sanibel Community Center, located at 2173 Periwinkle Way.

The featured speaker will begin his presentation at 7 p.m. sharp. There is no admission charge for the event and the angling public is cordially invited to attend.

This month’s speakers will be two renowned Lee County Fishing Guides: Capt. Phil Pica, who specializes in offshore angling, and Capt. Sean Davis, who runs a back bay charter. Both captains run their guiding operation out of the Fish Tale Marina on Fort Myers Beach as well as the Punta Rassa boat ramp directly off island.

Capt. Phil Pica focuses on near shore gag grouper during the winter months and is pursues tarpon, cobia and permit during the spring, summer and fall months. He fishes near beach ledges and Lee and Collier county’s artificial reefs. Capt. Phil’s tower boat gives his anglers a distinct advantage in the open waters of the Gulf, allowing him to spot tarpon and permit from a considerable distance.

Capt. Sean Davis specializes in inshore angling. He targets redfish, snook and trout in his flat’s boat. He has been living in Southwest Florida since he was five years old and has extensive experience in the backwaters of both Estero and San Carlos Bay. Either captain can be chartered by contacting the ship’s store at Fishtale Marina at 239-436-3600.
