Red Sox Children’s Hospital Celebrity Classic tees off Feb. 26
On Friday, Feb. 26, the 2004 and 2007 World Champion Boston Red Sox will again lend their time and talents to raise awareness and funds for The Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida.
The event takes place on the beautiful championship golf courses of The Forest Country Club, located in Fort Myers. Individual golf slots – $300 – are now available and the event chair is Ron McEwan.
Though the final celebrity player list will not be released until the day before the tournament, past participants have included fan favorites Jason Varitek, Josh Beckett, Jacoby Ellsbury, Tim Wakefield, Jon Lester, Jonathan Papelbon, Daisuke Matsuzaka and Boston Red Sox legend Luis Tiant.
The Boston Red Sox “Tee Party” at The Forest Country Club is set for Thursday, Feb. 25 from 6 to 9 p.m. (the evening prior to the golf tournament). Tickets are just $35.
The Boston Red Sox “Tee Party” allows guests to enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and bid on one-of-a-kind sports memorabilia items, trips, game tickets and restaurant gift certificates. This year’s live auction will include spectacular travel and ticket packages to top-notch sporting events including The Masters at Augusta, the opportunity to watch a Boston Red Sox game from the celebrated “Green Monster” seats and the chance to sit atop TD Bank Garden in the “Chairman’s Suite” to watch the Boston Celtics battle the Oklahoma City Thunder. Other featured packages include a luxury cruise and a trip to see a taping of the popular Rachael Ray Show in New York City.
Recent Hall of Fame inductee and former Boston Red Sox star Jim Rice will serve as Honorary Chair and is slated to attend both The “Tee Party” and the golf outing.
This year’s event MVP (Most Valuable Patient) is Neonatal Intensive Care Unit success story 18-month old Joey Naples who will be attending the events along with his parents Nick and Jennifer Naples, all of Estero.
Major corporate sponsors of the signature events include The Boston Red Sox, The Forest Country Club, Outback Steakhouse, Wells Fargo Insurance Services, SEI, MorrisSwitzer and Sports Adventures.
All funds raised will once again be matched dollar-for-dollar by a generous philanthropist and long-time Boston Red Sox fan.
“We are so grateful to our matching donors, the entire Boston Red Sox Organization and The Forest Country Club residents for their continued commitment to supporting the lifesaving mission of The Children’s Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit,” said Sharon A. MacDonald, Lee Memorial Health System’s Chief Foundation Officer.
