Tribeca Salon, in cooperation with The Onyx and Breezy Foundation, recently announced plans for the 1st Annual Island Gala to benefit the welfare of domestic animals in the Sanibel/Captiva and Lee County area.

The inaugural event and fundraiser will be held on Saturday, March 14 at Ellington’s Jazz Club and Restaurant, located at 1244 Periwinkle Way. Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m.

The gala will include a cocktail hour, open bar, silent and live auctions and four-course meal, with entertainment provided by Ellington’s Jazz Band as well as world renowed comedienne and passionate animal lover Elayne Boosler.

As one of the top comedy performers and writers for more than three decades, Boosler has appeared on The Tonight Show, Late Show with David Letterman, Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher, Larry King Live, The Daily Show, Good Morning America as well as her own cable television specials.

In addition, she has written articles for many newspapers and magazines, hosted several network and cable TV programs and has performed stand-up comedy since the 1970s.

Tickets for the gala are $150 each; limited seating is available.

The Onyx & Breezy Foundation, founded in 2004 by Mark and Wanda Shefts, assists domestic animals in a variety of ways, including:

Spay and neutering programs

Cancer research

Animal sanctuaries and shelters

Food, medicine and medical supplies

Puppy mill rescue

Funding rescues in disaster areas

“I am so happy to support the foundation’s first fundraiser on Sanibel Island, since 100 percent of all proceeds will go directly to the needy animals in Sanibel, Captiva and other Lee County areas,” said Tribecca Salon owner Domizio Melchiorre.

The First Annual Island Gala is also being supported by Tribeca Salon, Bailey’s General Store, Island Paws, Karen Bell Team, Kay Casperson’s Beauty Inside Out, Lily & Co., McMurray/Nette VIP Realty, Myra Roberts, Over Easy Cafe, Sanibel Captiva Community Bank, The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company and Ellington’s Jazz Club.

Melchiorre, along with the Shefts, invite you to join them on March 14 to share in the fun as we raise money to help our beloved four-legged friends in and around Sanibel.
