Chico’s lauded for support of United Way

By Staff | Jan 28, 2010

Chico’s FAS received an award from the United Way Volunteer Center for their continuing volunteer support of United Way Partner Agencies.

For the month of December 2009, Chico’s employees collected more than 240 toys, which were distributed to children through the Suncoast Community Resource Center, a United Way Community House. Chico’s employees also organized a clothing drive for Goodwill, had food drives for a variety of local non-profits, and gave cash donations to CCMI, Harry Chapin Food Bank and the Salvation Army.

Cliff Smith, President of the United Way of Lee, Hendry and Glades presented the award to Kevin Anderson, Senior Manager for Headquarters Operations at Chico’s.

“Chico’s and its employees are excellent corporate citizens of our community,” said Smith. “Their generous efforts in December are good examples of how they support children and families in our area.”

Kevin Anderson of Chico’s added, “We appreciate the work that United Way does for our community. Chico’s and United Way have a great partnership, and we look forward to many more years working together for the good of our community.”

The project was coordinated through the United Way Volunteer Center. The United Way Volunteer Center connects individuals and companies to volunteer opportunities throughout our community.
