Puppy left homeless in Philippines needs home
A kind-hearted Sanibel couple are hoping to find a home for a little brown puppy left homeless in the Philippines after a recent spate of fierce storms.
The couple Brian and Gloria Davies are receiving Ondoy-ketsana, a reddish colored pup with big brown eyes on Sunday.
The Davies are the directors of NETWORK for ANIMALS, a British animal welfare organization. The Davies said they had a team working in the Philippines involved in rescue operations following devastating typhoons a couple of months ago. “In total we dealt with 2,000 plus dogs and a smaller number of cats,” Brian Davies said. “We also provided pet owners with rice and sardines for their own consumption.”
The puppy who is friendly and loves to play needs a home.
“He is a sweet little creature and we decided to be sure he gets a good home,” Davies said. “We have brought him to the US and hope to find him a family on Sanibel. We would adopt him ourselves but we have two rescued dogs who have been with us for almost 11 years, are very set in their ways, and would hate another dog moving in.”
The puppy is a male dog,named Ondoy-ketsana.
He is named Ondoy since it is a male dog and Ondoy is the local term and Ketsana is the international name for the typhoon, according to a press report.
He has been staying in the Philippines with a local family who adore the dog but cannot keep him.
To adopt Ondoy-ketsana contact the Davies at 472-4733 or go to www.networkforanimals.org for more information.
