Sanibel City Hall will be closed in observance of New Year’s on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, and will resume regular operating hours on Monday, Jan. 4.

Refuse, recycling and vegetation waste collection by Waste Pro scheduled for New Year’s Day (Jan. 1) will be one day later. Therefore, if your normal pick-up day is Friday, Jan. 1, your waste will be picked up on Saturday, Jan. 2.

On New Years Eve, Thursday, Dec. 31, the Sanibel Recreation Center will close at noon. The Rec Center will be open on New Year’s Day, Friday, Jan. 1 from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

On Thursday, Dec. 31, the Winter Holiday Youth program will meet in the morning at the Rec Center but go off-site starting at 11:30 a.m. with pick up at the Sanibel Community Park (next to the Sanibel Community Association) at 5:30 p.m. This is a fee-based program that is conducted by the City of Sanibel at the Rec Center for school-age children.

Registration for the Winter Holiday Youth Recreation Program is now open at the Recreation Center front desk, located at 3880 Sanibel-Captiva Road. If you have any questions, call the Rec Center at 472-0345.

In addition, the City Of Sanibel Senior/Civic Center will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 31 and Friday, Jan. 1 in observance of New Year’s Day, resuming regular operating hours on Monday, Jan. 4. If you have any questions, call 472-5743.
