It’s official: Beachview Rec’N’Crew clinched the season championship and first place seeding for the end-of-season tournament with last Wednesday night’s 16-11 victory over Sanctuary Island Electric.

Great White Grill ate yet another victim – this week, it was All Island Glass in a decisive 15-5 win.

Also, Bailey’s Baggers sent the Aztec Plumbing Warriors plunging, 16-11.

With two weeks left of the regular season, things are getting tight. Only four of the six teams will make the playoffs. Three teams have so far clinched a position in the tournament – Beachview, Great White Grill and Bailey’s. The final spot is still up for grabs between Sanctuary Island Electric and Aztec Plumbing.

Sanctuary Electric can clinch a tournament spot with either a win or two Aztec losses. Aztec can clinch the final tournament spot by only two wins and two Electric losses.

The race for second place is nearly a dead heat between Great White and Bailey’s. To clinch second place, Great White needs any of the following scenarios: two wins, one win and one Bailey’s loss, or two Bailey’s losses.

Bailey’s, on the other hand, will need either two wins and at least one Great White loss, or one win and two Great White losses.

In the case of a tied record between the two teams, Great White would take second place because they own the strength of victory in the head-to-head matchups with Bailey’s.

Things are really heating up as we approach the final stretch of games in the Sanibel Softball League!
