Tornado watch in effect until 2 p.m.
A tornado watch is in effect for all of Southwest Florida until 2 p.m. today.
Thunder storms offshore are showing signs of rotation as they move south to north making tornado activity a possibility. A tornado watch means that conditions are right for tornado activity in our immediate area. Please monitor local weather for any updates.
If a Tornado Warning is issued, please follow the safety tips listed below.
· Go to an inside room without windows on the lowest level of your home ( a closet, bathroom, or interior hall). Protect your body from flying debris with a heavy blanket or sleeping bag.
· Avoid windows. Opening windows to equalize pressure is ineffective in reducing damage during a tornado. Don’t worry about the windows, worry about finding shelter and protecting yourself.
· Stay at home and monitor local weather for changing conditions.
