Gustav Kirchoff Durholz of Fort Myers died on Dec. 2, 2009 at Health Park Medical Center in Fort Myers. He was 77.

Born on Jan. 16, 1931 in Paterson, N.J. a child of Otto Bertram and Margaret Blackwood (Purdy) Durholz, Gustav was a resident of Fort Myers for the past three years. Formerly, he lived on Sanibel for 24 years.

He retired in the early 1980s as an administrator for the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn, Md. He was an avid bridge player, an accomplished dancer, a concert pianist and a member of the Lexington Country Club in Fort Myers.

He is survived by his wife, Edith (Yuhsien) Ust of Fort Myers, his daughters, Barbara Jill White of Charleston, S.C., Janet Elyse (Michael) Ridge of Arlington, Va., Catherine Margaret Sheppard of Arlington, Va., his son, Daniel Richard (Marlene) Durholz, his granddaughter, Lynn Elise Durholz, all of Elkridge, Md., his cousin, Maria Canete of North Fort Myers, his sister, Nancy and niece, Karla, both in Germany.
